Saves some money and helps get rid of those shredded documents too!,
Firsty, this is a robust bit of kit. It has a satisfying weight to it and doesn’t buckle when you push the handles down. I agree that they could be a bit more comfortable and can dig in a little but it isn’t too bad. Using a wood burning stove thoughtout the winter we can get through a fair few logs. This is a great way of saving a little on those and getting rid of loads of the paper I seemed to be getting rid of every month. Not only that but it gets used to get rid of those shredded documents. In fact, I tend to shred plenty of non confidential stuff as well as I find the logs made from shredded paper come out much better. I’ve had some of the larger ones I have made this way burn for over an hour!
It can be a faff to make them and you are better off using a bigger bucket(s) to soak more paper in one go so you make lots of bricks in one job lot. It saves setting up each time. I’ll be working on making a stack over the summer to stock up for next winter. I look forward to the fast drying times as a wet winter can mean these can take a couple of weeks to dry in the garage.

|Good at the start, but could do with being more solid,
At first it really worked well, the bricks were made and after drying they burn for about 1 to 1.5h in a woodburner. After using the log maker for a while (about 3 sessions and about 40 paper bricks later) the structure of the machine begins to buckle under the pressure and it became useless. Am not sure now if I should invest in a new (better) machine or just forget about it and stick with logs…

|briquette maker,
very easy to make,if you first fit newspaper in base, bottom and sides, with enough to cover top later, fill with your newspaper, then cover, when you press down and remove, you will have a completely encased brick.
